Poetry & Prose

Gud Jul

December 16, 2008

Greetings Friends:

For December, I am sharing poetry that placed in the 2008 Holiday Issue of Iron Horse Literary Review. Please indulge the darkness. I thrill to it this time of year:

(The High Notes)
The heart is a starry Yuletide
born on the turn of a tree stand screw;
stringing souls of family ornaments
in worlds across the sky.
It sings of holy night,
and the high notes open wide a corner portal,
though soft needles delay passage,
and brush the words away.
Beyond, the light shines slowly
in a darkness with no end.
One turn of a screw from where we sing
as often as we want.

Peace and wise winter.

XO Tina
