Poetry & Prose

Summertime

June 18, 2008

Hello Full Moon Friends:

It is always really gratifying to place my poetry. This spring I am fortunate to find homes for it in the Saint Paul Almanac and with an educational publisher (NCS Pearson). The second is a piece for young readers (my target market for 2008) and these occasional successes are motivation enough to keep me writing rhymes.

Solstice is near. My Netflix subscription is on hold, and I'm playing in the garden:

(Idyl)
When I suppose you smiling back,
soft, into my sunny gaze,
quiet, and imagining
the sturdy order of our days:
a seeded herb pressed in a book of verse
awaiting an incant;
a heart-shaped stone washed smooth of sand
and hidden in a potted plant.

Love then, untold in rocky fold.

Enjoy the season! XO T.
